Before we establish a connection, it's important to ensure that both GA4 and PriceShape are compatible with each other. Therefore, this integration guide covers some essential steps to ensure the needed data is available, as well as how to create the integration within PriceShape.
It will also be possible to integrate your sales data with a custom sales data integration. You can learn more about custom sales data integrations here.
Step 1: Locate Relevant Data in GA4
1.1 Access your GA4 account and navigate to the 'Reports' section.
1.2 Proceed to the Monetization menu and select 'E-commerce purchases'. Once selected, scroll to the bottom of the page.
1.3 Change the display of the "purchases scheme". Click on 'Item name' and change the filter to 'item ID'.
Step 2: Check Item Tracking in GA4
2.1 Verify that all the required data is being collected in GA4.
PriceShape utilizes data from the attributes 'Items viewed', 'Items purchased', 'Items added to cart', and 'Item revenue'. If you encounter empty columns similar to the example below, it is necessary to begin tracking this information before continuing with the GA4 integration.
Step 3: Look for the GA4 - item ID in PriceShape.
3.1 Ensure that the item ID from your GA4 account is available in PriceShape. The simplest way to do this is by searching for the GA4 - Item ID in PriceShape. If the ID is not found in PriceShape, we cannot import the data from GA4, and the ID should be added to your product feed.
3.2 Once you find a match, take note of which attribute the GA4 ID is mapped to within PriceShape. In the example below, it's mapped as "id", we need this information in step 4.
Note: All data from PriceShape is derived from the provided product feed. Consequently, you may come across products in GA4 that are not available in PriceShape or vice versa. Therefore, if you do not find anything to begin with, please take a few samples.
Step 4: Connect GA to PriceShape
Retrieve the property ID from GA4.
4.1 In Google Analytics, click on accounts at the top.
4.2 Locate a relevant shop and copy the property id.
You can find it under Admin > Property Settings. Property IDs should be a 9-digit number
4.3 Go to your account settings in PriceShape, located in the left corner.
4.4 Select integrations and add a Google Analytics integration.
4.5 Give the integration a fitting name.
4.6 Insert the property ID from the step above.
4.7 Select the attribute in PriceShape that contains your GA4 - Item ID.
4.8 Select the timezone. The timezone should match the one defined in your Google Analytics property settings.
4.9 Click "Connect" and follow the verification steps.
Please note: The user connecting must have read and write permissions in the relevant Google Analytics account.
Step 5: Connect GA to the Corresponding Input Feed
The final step is to connect the GA4 data to the corresponding feed. This is done by finding the correct input feed and going into edit mode.
5.1 Go to feeds -> Input feeds
5.2 Locate the input feed to which you would like to add the sales integration to
5.3 In step 1 - source, turn on the "Sales data integration toggle".
5.4 Choose the GA4 integration you made earlier and save the feed.
5.5 Save the changes.
Now, the integration is set up, and your sales data will be added to your feed in your account within 48 hours. You can always check if PriceShape has access to your sales data.
