This article provides a step-by-step guide to make an ID rule in Google Analytics to match the Supplemental feed from Shopify to the Content API. Please follow the following steps.

Step 1: Prepare Your Supplemental Feed: make an output feed from PriceShape. containing the data needed to create your ID rule

Step 2: Upload Your Supplemental Feed

  1. Access Google Merchant Center: Log in to your Google Merchant Center account.

  2. Navigate to Feeds: Go to the "Products" section and select "Feeds" from the submenu.

  3. Create a New Supplemental Feed: Click on the "+" button to create a new feed. Choose "Supplemental feed" and follow the prompts to upload your feed file or link your Google Sheet

Step 3: Create an ID Rule

  1. Feed Rules: After uploading your supplemental feed, go to "Feed Rules" under the "Products" section.

  2. Select Your Feed: Choose the supplemental feed you've just uploaded.

  3. Create Rule for 'id' Attribute: Find the 'id' attribute in the list of product attributes. Click on it to create a new rule.

  4. Define Rule Logic: Set the logic for how you want the 'id' attribute from your supplemental feed to match or enrich the 'id' attribute in your primary feed. This might involve simple matching, prefixing, or any other logical operation that ensures the correct linkage between your feeds.

Often shopify ID is formatted this way

    'shopify_DK_ + id + _ + variant id'.

After making the rule and clicking "OK" the rule will look like this

Validation: Use the testing and validation tools provided in the Merchant Center to ensure your rule works as intended. You can preview how your products will appear with the supplemental data applied.
